Gravel Riding in Southern Spain – Our Unforgettable May Adventure
We’ve just wrapped up our May gravel riding week in Southern Spain — and what a truly unforgettable week it was! With a small, adventurous group and perfect spring weather, we set off from our base in the picturesque village of Cádiar, nestled in the heart of Las Alpujarras, and embarked on a journey that took us through some of the most spectacular and diverse terrain Southern Spain has to offer.
Over the course of the week, we tackled parts of the legendary TransAndalus route, explored the poetic trails known as The Ballads, and descended all the way to the sun-drenched coastline of Almería. From high mountain passes and ancient Moorish villages to flowing coastal tracks and rugged inland climbs, each day brought new challenges and unforgettable views.
Beyond the riding, this trip was also a celebration of local culture. We dined on incredible Andalusian cuisine, from hearty mountain stews to fresh seafood by the sea, and stayed in a variety of accommodations — everything from rustic rural cortijos to charming coastal guesthouses — each with its own unique character and warm hospitality.
This wasn’t just about miles and elevation gain — it was about soaking in the atmosphere, connecting with fellow riders, and experiencing the soul of Southern Spain one gravel trail at a time.
🎥 Check out the video below to relive the highlights and get a taste of what gravel riding in this magical part of the world is all about. If it inspires you to join us for a future ride, we’d love to have you along for the adventure!
