Day 1

Is a fairly tough day climbing out from our base in Cadiar into the mountains around Puerto de la Ragua. Lunch will be in the pretty town of Laroles with amazing views from the mountain side terrace. After lunch we hit the stunning gravel roads that eventually see us drop into our first stop at Laujar de Andarax.

Day 2

We leave Laujar and start an amazing gravel road that meanders along the valley for 22 kms. After this we hit a long 16km gravel climb that eventually gives way to a stunning descent to the tiny village of Enix for a well earned lunch stop. After lunch we have to tackle some fairly rough descending down to Almeria where the gravel tracks actually end right on the edge of the city with only a short stretch of tarmac to the hotel. A well earned beer on the beach will be much needed.

Day 3

We leave the hotel and head straight to the seafront where we join the cycle path and head out of town. After we pass the university we join a gravel track that runs along the edge of the sea heading towards the Cabo de Gata natural park. We leave Cabo de Gata with a short  sharp road climb before joining the beach path again to the small fishing village of San Jose for our lunch stop. After San Jose we pass through the old gold mining town of Rodalquillar joining a gravel track that takes us into the Tabernas desert where we pass cortijo Fraille, an old farm house used as a film set in many films including The good, the Bad and the Ugly. After a short road section we arrive at our hotel for the night in Agua Amarga.

Day 4

We leave Agua Amarga on a via verde (old train line) climbing steadily throughout the morning to our lunch at Lucainena de la Torre. We then have a bit more climbing before dropping back into the desert town of Tabernas for our nights stay.

Day 5

We leave the desert town of Tabernas and visit some of the small villages of the Bajo de Andarax region. We wind our way along the river bed through orange groves before arriving for another night in Laujar de Andarax.

Day 6

We have a short van transfer to the top of Puerto de La Ragua (or you can ride if you are feeling strong) where we join a gravel road that sees us skirt the edge of the Sierra Nevada with stunning views before our huge descent back into Cadiar entirely off road.

Day 7

Transfer back to airport.
